Individuals (this does not include businesses) as a whole spend more time doing their taxes then the time it takes to manufacture all the planes and automobiles. But doing your taxes is not productive; it produces nothing. The tax code makes our lives so complex and frustrating - tax planning, estate planning, divorced people fighting over tax exemptions (not that divorce is right), complications with charities. The whole thing is just a mess. Please simplify it and stop burdening us citizens. Why do the politicians place this burden upon us? Commit that every congressman will have to do his own taxes. Without help from the IRS, Turbo Tax, etc. Then someone will audit their taxes and for every mistake they made, there pay will be reduced by 5%. Then maybe they will realize what an awful thing they have put upon the American people. Please add to your commitment revising the IRS Tax code.
